Reflix Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 4, 2026
Last updated: August 4, 2026

Reflix is provided and operated by Groot ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how Reflix handles information across iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and related services.

Please read this Policy before using Reflix. If you do not agree with it, stop using Reflix. Where applicable law requires separate consent for a processing activity, we will ask for that consent separately.

1. Key Points

Reflix is a client tool that connects to and plays content from private media servers configured by users.

  1. You decide which media libraries to connect, what those libraries contain, and what to play.
  2. We do not provide or upload movies or television content to your libraries, choose media on your behalf, or participate in managing content between you and your media server.
  3. To display and play content, the Reflix client installed on your device reads catalogs, metadata, and media streams returned by the media server in response to your actions. Media streams are ordinarily transmitted directly between your device and the server you specify, without passing through Reflix-operated servers.
  4. We do not receive, store, or review media files from your private libraries on our operational servers, and we do not actively inspect or learn the specific contents of those libraries.
  5. Reflix may process necessary technical information that does not include the media files themselves, such as public content identifiers, feature-usage events, subscription status, error categories, and network-connection status, as described below.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Media Server Connection Information

When you add Emby, Jellyfin, Plex, or another compatible media server, Reflix may store the following on your device:

  • The server name, address, port, and connection protocol;
  • The username, password, access token, user identifier, or server identifier that you provide for that server;
  • Your selected connection routes, server order, default server, and related connection settings.

This information is used to connect to the server you specify, authenticate you, display your media library, and play content. Except as otherwise described in this Policy, we do not use it for advertising, sale, or user profiling.

2.2 Smart Connection Recognition

If you actively use a smart-fill feature such as recognizing server information from shared text, the text you paste is sent over an encrypted connection to the Reflix API and temporarily processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to extract fields such as server address, username, and password.

  • The original text is not written to application business logs;
  • The server records only necessary technical information, such as the occurrence of the request and the length of the text;
  • The parsed result is encrypted before being returned and can be decrypted only by the client that initiated the request;
  • Our business code processes the original text only to complete the current request. It does not intentionally write the original text to a database or business logs, or use it to train our models, advertise, or build user profiles. Cloudflare's infrastructure-level processing is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

If you do not want this text to leave your device, do not use smart recognition and enter the connection information manually.

2.3 Private Media Library Information

To provide catalog browsing, search, playback, favorites, viewing progress, and cross-library matching, the Reflix client may process the following locally on your device:

  • Media titles, descriptions, artwork, external content identifiers, and technical media information;
  • Media-library catalogs and resource-availability status;
  • Favorites, viewing history, playback progress, and recently used servers;
  • Media URLs, subtitles, audio tracks, and temporary authentication information required for playback.

This data is processed primarily between your device and the media server you specify. We do not host your media files or complete private-library catalog on our operational servers.

2.4 iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, Reflix uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize selected Reflix data across devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Synchronized data may include:

  • Media-server configurations and connection credentials;
  • Favorites, viewing history, playback progress, and media identifiers;
  • App settings and device-copy identifiers required for synchronization.

This data is stored by Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is governed by Apple's privacy policy and iCloud terms. Turning off iCloud sync stops future synchronization, but may not automatically delete data already stored in iCloud. You can use features provided by Reflix, manage iCloud storage on your device, or contact us to learn about deletion options.

2.5 Usage and Analytics Information

Reflix uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand whether features work as intended, improve the product experience, and diagnose problems. Information processed may include:

  • App version, build version, iOS or tvOS platform, and device category;
  • Coarse network type or connection status;
  • Events relating to page views, feature interactions, onboarding, search, playback preparation, and playback controls;
  • Feature results, error categories, response times, and experiment groups;
  • A randomly generated installation or analytics identifier, installation cohort, and first-use time.

We seek to avoid sending server passwords, access tokens, complete media URLs, private-library catalogs, raw search text, or media files to analytics services. Analytics events may contain public content identifiers or categorized content-interaction information, but not the media files themselves.

We do not use this information for cross-app advertising tracking, and we do not sell it. Google may process relevant information outside your country or region in accordance with its service terms.

2.6 Purchase and Subscription Information

In-app purchases for Reflix are processed by the Apple App Store, and RevenueCat is used to verify and synchronize entitlements. Apple and RevenueCat may process:

  • A randomly generated anonymous App User ID created by RevenueCat;
  • Product identifiers, purchase history, subscription status, expiration dates, and entitlement status;
  • Apple transaction information, receipts, or signed transaction data;
  • Necessary technical information such as device type, operating system, recent usage time, and IP address.

We do not receive your full payment-card number or App Store account password. Apple handles payments, refunds, and billing information under its own rules.

2.7 Feedback and Diagnostic Logs

Reflix stores size-limited diagnostic logs locally on your device to help troubleshoot operational problems. Logs leave your device only when you actively choose to report a problem, send an email, or share a log file. Log attachments are encrypted when exported.

Feedback may include text you provide, your contact email, device and App versions, operation results, error codes, and diagnostic logs. Do not include unnecessary passwords, access tokens, or other sensitive information in the feedback text. We retain this information for the time needed to address the feedback and then delete or anonymize it, unless the law requires otherwise.

2.8 Network Requests and Security Logs

When you access the Reflix API, image service, or other online features, network-service providers such as Cloudflare may temporarily process IP addresses, request times, client types, request paths, response status, and security-verification information. This information is used to transmit requests, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect service security.

3. Purposes and Legal Bases for Processing

We process information only for the following purposes:

  • Connecting to media servers at your request and providing browsing, playback, and synchronization;
  • Verifying purchases, restoring purchases, and providing membership entitlements;
  • Saving settings, favorites, and viewing progress;
  • Providing smart fill, content metadata, images, and other online features;
  • Analyzing feature performance, correcting errors, protecting security, and preventing abuse;
  • Responding to feedback, providing customer support, and meeting legal obligations.

Where required by applicable law, we process information as necessary to perform a contract, based on your consent, to comply with legal obligations, or for legitimate interests necessary to protect service security.

4. Third-Party Services

Reflix may use the following third-party services:

  • Apple: App Store payments, StoreKit, iCloud, and CloudKit;
  • RevenueCat: purchase verification, subscription status, and membership entitlements;
  • Google Firebase: product analytics and event measurement;
  • Cloudflare: API hosting, network transmission, security protection, image services, and Workers AI;
  • Content-information providers such as TMDB, Trakt, and YouTube: public metadata, ratings, images, trailers, or related links;
  • Media servers such as Emby, Jellyfin, and Plex, and third-party players that you choose to use.

Third parties process information under their own privacy policies. We require service providers acting on our behalf to process information only as necessary to provide the relevant service. Media servers and third-party players that you connect are controlled by you or their respective providers, and we cannot control their data-processing practices.

5. Information Sharing, Transfer, and Public Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. Except in the following circumstances, we do not disclose your information to other parties:

  • Transmitting necessary information to service providers entrusted to provide the features described in this Policy;
  • At your active direction or with your express consent, such as when sending a feedback email or invoking a third-party player;
  • To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from competent authorities;
  • To protect the lawful rights and interests of you, other users, us, or the public, and to protect service security;
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, subject to legally required notice and appropriate protections.

6. Information Retention and Deletion

  • Data stored locally on your device is generally retained until you delete it in the App, clear the data, or uninstall Reflix;
  • iCloud data is handled according to your iCloud settings and Apple's retention rules. Uninstalling the App may not delete iCloud data;
  • Original text submitted to smart recognition is processed only to complete the current request; our business code does not write the original text to a database or business logs;
  • Firebase and RevenueCat data is retained according to our service configuration, business needs, anti-fraud requirements, and their respective privacy policies;
  • Feedback and support records are retained until the issue is resolved and for a reasonable follow-up accountability period;
  • Relevant information may be retained for longer when required by law, dispute resolution, security investigations, or financial audits.

After the applicable retention period ends, we delete or anonymize information within our control.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Choose not to add a media server, or remove an added server at any time;
  • Choose whether to enable iCloud sync;
  • Delete local favorites, viewing history, caches, and other App data;
  • Manage subscriptions, turn off renewal, or request a refund through your Apple Account;
  • Choose not to use smart recognition, diagnostic-log export, or third-party-player features;
  • Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information within our control;
  • Withdraw consent, restrict or object to processing, and lodge a complaint where permitted by applicable law.

Some information is independently controlled by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, a media server you choose, or another third party. You may need to exercise your rights directly with the relevant provider. To prevent unauthorized access or deletion, we may need to verify your identity.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures proportionate to the risks, including encryption in transit, encrypted responses, minimized credential processing, log redaction, access restrictions, and data-volume limits. No method of network transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security. You should protect your devices, Apple Account, media-server accounts, and access credentials, and enable secure connections and strong passwords for your media servers.

If a data-security incident may affect your lawful rights and interests, we will take remedial measures and provide notice as required by applicable law.

9. Cross-Border Processing

Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and other third-party services may process information outside your country or region. Where required by applicable law, we take contractual, security, and other necessary measures and require service providers acting on our behalf to provide appropriate safeguards.

10. Minors

Reflix is not directed to children below the age of digital consent in their region. Minors should use Reflix only after a parent or guardian has read and agreed to this Policy. We do not knowingly ask children to provide unnecessary personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate authorization, contact us so that we can address it.

Reflix cannot control the contents of private media libraries connected by users. Parents and guardians are responsible for configuring account permissions, content ratings, and parental controls on media servers and for supervising minors' use.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy because of changes to features, third-party services, or legal requirements. We will communicate material changes through an in-App notice, an updated policy page, or another reasonable method, and obtain renewed consent where required. The most recent update date appears at the top of this page.
